What happened next............

The Trust are working closely with the renal network and Renal units in Wales to make improvements to the transport service. A project team has been set up to address short and long term issues and to develop a new transport service for renal patients that is more patient focused. Work has been done to gather patient views and comments on the current service and ideas for improvements for the future. It is apparent that many patients would value a dedicated service that transports renal patients only and removes the long journeys and delays experienced when travelling with other non renal outpatients. We intend to pilot a dedicated service and explore the benefits and costs associated with this model of service later in the year at St Woolos renal unit in South Wales. The evaluation of this pilot will help inform and develop future services across Wales.
