Dignity in Care

The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust has developed a ‘Dignity in Care Plan’ to improve the quality of care we provide to patients.  We remain committed in ensuring that our patients are at the heart of everything we do, so across the Trust there are ‘Dignity Champions’ from different regions and disciplines working together to improve the patient experience.

The plan reflects our values and behaviours and takes into consideration the most vulnerable people in society, who we come into contact with on a daily basis.  Through this work we aim to uphold the values of dignity and respect for patients, challenge poor care and work to improving those areas that patients feel are important.

Dementia

Dementia is set to be the 21st century’s biggest healthcare challenge. At the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, we are working towards improving the experience for people living with dementia who use our services, as well as considering the impact it will have on our workforce.

Our staff are so often in the frontline when it comes to helping people living with dementia.  We want to make sure that they are trained and informed about the condition so that they have a good understanding of how to best support patients, families and carers.

We have developed a Dementia Plan 2017-2020 that highlights the work we will deliver over a 3 year period to improve the services we provide for people living with dementia.  We are running a 6 week consultation period on our Plan. Please click here to view our Consultation Document and to give your comments. Please return to peci.team@wales.nhs.uk by the 20th October 2017.  If you require this document in another language or format please contact us on 01792 311773 or email peci.team@wales.nhs.uk

The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust is now recognised as a Dementia Friendly Community by the Alzheimer’s Society which allows us to focus on improving inclusion and quality of life for people with dementia in a number of ways. One of these ways is through the Dementia Friendly Communities recognition process, which enables us to be publicly recognised for our work towards becoming dementia-friendly.
