Careers in the Welsh Ambulance Service

With around 3,500 employees plus volunteers and an annual income of more than £150 million, the Welsh Ambulance Services covers the whole of Wales and is able to offer an exciting and rewarding career to individuals in all parts of the country.

The Trust has the following operational services:

  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) - Responsible for responding to all emergency calls, and taking appropriate pre-hospital care action
  • Routine Patient Care Services (PCS) - Responsible for providing non-emergency care and transport for those patients who have a medical need for transport
  • Control and Communications - Responsible for the emergency dispatch of ambulance crews and the
  • NHS Direct Wales - provision of telephone healthcare advice

Your entry route into the Service will depend on your individual background, experience and qualifications.  You may already be working as a Healthcare Professional, wanting to do something completely different or just starting out on your career.  Often people join us in a support role and then choose to apply for an operational role at a later date.
