Welcome to The Room, where children and young people can get information all about the Welsh Ambulance Service.

Watch 'Here Comes Jack', the new mascot for the Welsh Ambulance Service.

The Welsh Ambulance Service responds to accidents and emergencies.  We also transport some patients to and from hospital appointments.

We cover the whole of Wales 24 hours a day, every day and try to give the best care possible to all of our patients.

NHS Direct Wales is also part of the Ambulance service.  They give health advice and information to people on the telephone and through the website www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk.

Inside ‘The Room’ you can find out what is an emergency and when you should call 999, and also what different career opportunities are available in the ambulance service. The Welsh Ambulance Service has also developed an interactive virtual tour that helps people better understand the role of frontline crews and the life-saving equipment they use. Take a 360 degree look around an ambulance, a Clinical Contact Centre, where 999 calls are received and vehicles are dispatched, as well as the Area Ambulance Centre where the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) are based.

This October, the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust will once again be visiting primary schools across Wales to promote ‘Shoctober’. A campaign which aims to teach junior school children life saving skills.

With the help of staff, community responders and agency partners, the campaign will help pupils age 7-11 understand:

  • The difference between a big and little accident
  • When to dial 999
  • Other NHS services that can help

Due to limited spaces we are no longer accepting any further requests. However if you wish to learn lifesaving skills about CPR, defibrillators, recovery position and choking, please watch our video’s.
