A Training Directive is to be issued to all front line staff identifying the signs and symptoms of a blockage of the Laryngectomee.  Sessions will also be incorporated into the Paramedic Continuing Professional Development programme which will aim to familiarise staff with the different types of tubes used, how to notice a problem and how to manage this problem  The Trust will also strive to develop links with those working with Laryngectomee and Tracheostomy patients so that they can be ‘flagged’ on our control systems making them recognisable at the time of a ‘999’ call.
